The SafePilote system is easily installed on many types of machine tools – including machining centers, turning centers, and grinding machines. It can be used to protect the machine, but it can also provide useful information about machine health. The system consists of two parts, a sensor installed at the back of the spindle and a processing unit installed in the electrical cabinet.
Encapsulated in a M12 housing, the 3-axis acceleration sensor is designed to be a true industrial product: compact and easy to install, it is connected to the processing unit by a removable cable. The digital communication link between the sensor and the processing unit is not affected by the environment: no need to take special precautions, the sensor cable can be mixed into the cable support system along with the power cables from the spindle.
The signal processing unit is mounted in the electrical cabinet of the machine tool. It connects to the PLC of the machine via a small number of digital inputs / outputs. A Profibus version is also available.
The digital 3-axis accelerometer is mounted on the spindle and is connected to the processor via a quick-disconnect cable.
